I have an 1983 Wedge 280i with very heavy steering.
Where can I get information on a power steering conversion

From my memory, it shouldn't be heavy.
  • Is the suspension adjusted correctly?
  • Do you have extra sticky rubber?
  • Is it heavy under speed, or at start/parking?
With the front wheels off the ground, is it sticky/heavy?

Best,
B.

Probably a lot more help, advice and suggestions if you ask on the Wedge Forum?

I think Wedges with power steering used a Ford Cortina rack (possibly quite rare now)?

It is very heavy.
And looking at forum all those without power steering are.
Wheels are quite wide and suspension seems fine with no camber issues.
Later models came with power steering, so it is way I want to go.

You may want to look into Corsa electric power steering conversions.

A lot less clutter in the engine bay.

I'm going this route with my wedge.

Corsa conversion seems interesting as they are probably more available than Cortina Mk4/5 power racks.
I assume that is an arm rather than rack job.

Correct.

Using a controller similar to this:

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vauxhall-Opel-EPAS-EPS-Power-st...

and a new Ford RS2000 close ratio rack.

Just make sure your changes don't adversely impact the geometry.
