India lead by 265 I think more than that has only been chased once before. Can we avoid defeat , I'm positive cook will finally cone good.

That Anderson over was complete rubbish. Way too short. He needs to stand up.

So here we are India 300 odd in the lead two wickets remaining.

So what's the betting, being utterly pessimistic, that at the end of today, England will be four down still facing batting all tomorrow and over 300 still to be got?

There is nothing from our openers so far that makes you think they can repel the new ball or hold up even to first bowling change. We don't seem to be able to resist effectively at the moment, nor are we able to attack and maintain an attack without losing wickets in clusters.

To quote BBC

17:31:
Eng 72-3 (Cook 22, Root 0)
Amidst the wreckage, Alastair Cook is standing tall

To quote them 2 minutes later

17:33:
WICKET - Cook c Dhoni b Ishant 22 (Eng 72-4)

What is going on with Bell. Why can't he consistently deliver under pressure. Same old story for him, when wickets are tumbling he is always put cheaply. I can only think of two or three occasions when he has come in early and stopped the rot.

Anyway 93 for 4, need to bat through now and hope Plunkett can bring us home.

Big day today, India are on top, but it isn't over yet for England, Root and Moeen Ali are good players, if they can hang in and score runs, change the strike regularly, England can draw or even win. Plus dangerman James Anderson is still here biggrinwink

Alastair Cook misused Moeen Ali. Moeen Ali is a pretty handy spinner, picks up wickets, and as he plays on, he can get better, but England do need a proper spinner.
