Hi guys,

I am thinking of getting a pair of Lotus Elise seats and putting them in my chim! Has anyone done this and if so was it a big job?

Cheers

Yes, I put some in mine briefly. I have a dodgy back and decided I preferred the original Chim seats, as I needed to adjust the rake of the seat back and Elise seats don't adjust for rake.

It depends what runners you have underneath. The ones mine came with (bought from another TVR owner) did not fit the same holes. The seats are fitted through four holes in the floor, I had to drill new rear holes to fit the Elise seats. Not more than a 20 minute job, take the roof off and the carpet out while you line up to drill.

Mine were mk 2 seats, and were quite a tight fit at the top, as I have a roll cage. Phazed swears by Elise seats, is 6ft 3, and has them permanently in his Chimaera in preference to Chim seats. My seats now reside in another TVR owner's Chim, and he's 6 ft 7. So good if you are tall.

Good for me.

I've got them in my current chim and my previous chin as well.

I've an old MK1 pair in the loft you can try.

you can also try them in my current chim.

I made a simple frame to mount then to the floor.

The seats I have seen only seem to have 2 bolts coming out the bottom, I'm not too sure if I can bolt on my chimaera frames to them or not? Were the frames on yours specially made?

You can't use anything from the originals.

Did you mark a custom frame? I have also seen it can be bolted straight to the floor too, not too sure how with just the two bolts on the seat?

You need a simple frame or brackets.

there are 3 fixing points on the Elise seat.

I found the Elise runners a tad too wide for the floor iirc.

I think once I have the seats it will be far easier to get my head round it, it is always easier when you can see it in the flesh.

Just found these,

Notice the rust forming on the bottom of the frames, occasional damp carpets, what in a TVR?

Haha, wet carpet in a TVR? Never!! Those look great in the car, I take it you made the frame to fit existing bolt holes?

Yeah but Peter must have an ass like an ice-skate blade because I tried to get into his Chim and could only get one cheek in! hehe

Sorry for digging up an old thread here....

I was wondering if anyone has any of the Elise seats that are surplus to requirement? I'd love to try a set in my Chimaera.

Thanks, Andrew.
