It happened a couple of weeks ago ago, I noticed when driving to work that they had a 'no fuel at all' sign on the forecourt, coming back home most of the stock had gone. The forecourt shop is still open and quite busy first thing in the morning.

TBH I'm not that surprised that they have gone, fingers in too many pies and no real identity. Big Renault sign but selling Nissans etc.

My wife applied for a job with them last year, the email address they gave returned an auto response that the person no longer worked at the company and no alternative email address.

I don't think I'd trust that website linked when they say "...20 minutes’ drive from cities such as Hull, York and Leeds." biggrin

Companies House confirms they are in Adminisration - their 31/12/12 accounts never got filed - 9 months overdue. The writing has been on the wall for somed time therefore.

Sad for everyone after such a long time in business. My mother has gone into a panic worrying about servicing her car (duh - old ladies - another dealer only five minutes from home).

I can't imagine those brands have many big sellers, so that probably didn't help things.

Garages in areas such as that rely on a really strong local loyal market and with the internet its no longer there now, its very sad to see old businesses such as that go to the wall, ultimately it will lead to less choice for the consumer.

They once had a VERY loyal following unfortunatly since Brian died a few years ago the garage has been badly managed, writing was on the wall 18 months ago but Ostrich managment was implemented, hell of a shame for Howden and the 80 staff not to mention the memory of Brian who was a great bloke.

I worked for this company for several years under Brian, Its sutch a shame it has gone down when he spent years building it up, although his sons never got on so I am not suprised at this news, poor Brian.
