Happened to my dark blue mx5. Afraid to say it needed a respray. No idea what caused it but it was a huge mess. White contact stains all over it.

It happens sometimes, water gets into the clear coat, it might just disappear if your leave the car in the sun for a couple of days.

Worse than crap. Wind and rain will be constantly moving the cover over the paintwork and even the faintest layer of outdoor road dust under the cover will abrade the paintwork horribly, as the OP and others have found out the hard way.

I don't like to dwell on the misery of others so I would like to know why the OP thought that a cover would be a good idea.

How are they sold? warning to others and all that.

Take it to your local friendly bodyshop and ask them if they can stick it in their oven for 30 mins. Sometimes magic can happen .....

Or you could use one of those hot air gun,s ,the type you use to remove paint but youve got to be carefull not to get the paint to hot........

Give Julian a call/drop by in broad walk, as you go up past red lion hill, take the second left, as if going into the dealer, then as the rank of shops end, between the houses theres a path, go up there, take the second right and he's in there.

He starts very early, and leaves about 1pm I think, but he does a good job. Treated a quite serious case a door rust on very thin metal and did a good job, and has done favours in the past.

If you want his number, PM me (left it at home)
