OK just a bit of a weak rant really but, I've had my old Clubman up for sale on various web sites with little success, the best offers only in the £2ks, yet watching programmes like "For the love of cars" an old, battered, non running Cooper (not an S) is sold for £7k.
I accept the Clubman isn't perfect, it's been patched, but it has a full MoT. I've spent around £5k on it with uprates suspension, brakes, engine, gearbox etc but I guess it's a Clubman which isn't everyones cup of tea.

I'm hardly using it, hence the decision to sell but not at £2400. I think I'll just find somewhere to park it up, maybe it'll eventually be worth what I think it's worth now or maybe it won't.

You generally never make your money back on a restoration.
A '64 Mk1 Cooper is a different kettle of fish to a '70s Clubman.
An original good order Mk1 S can fetch north of £50k.
A Mk1 pickup even more.
It's supply and demand.
At the end of the day, it's worth what the person in front of you, who is willing to buy it, is willing to pay.
If you don't wish to sell it for that price, then it's never going to sell, unless you find the right buyer.

And on that subject, cannot decide whether to just talk the in laws into letting me put it back where I found it in their garage, or wasting more money on it.
When I was trying to buy a nice standard ish mini, and not too fussy about exact spec, but nothing too modded, it was a real pain to find anything that didn't have loads of expensive extra's that the owner wanted some of his investment back. My budget didn't stretch to much more than £2K, and eventually I found a solid, badly painted mayfair for £1800, with the only upgrade being some 12 inch alloys. Having owned it for a year, it was dead easy to sell at the same price, to a 17 year old.

As you can imagine a good condition unrestored 50 year old mini is a very rare thing.
