Something that satisfies day in and day out, your dirty little secret you now want to share...

Mine is the Bourgeat ceramic non stick frying pan. Love it more than my wife. It's everything you ever want in a frying pan without the image or the cost.

AEG Self cleaning oven - We only use the cleaning function once a year or so but I'm always amazed that all that crap that has accumulated turns to fine dust and just wipes off. Shame it doesn't clean the glass but hey ho.

induction hob (but not an aeg as that one cost a fortune and lasted less than 3 years).

Got one in our rented place at the moment, hate it.

Has made sure that when I buy a place again I'll install a gas hob.

Fire, heat. No fire, no heat. Where's the problem? I now have a cupboard full of lovely pans that I can't use, 10cm omelette pan, egg poacher, heavy pan for casseroles.

Induction, shminduction.

I have the same; a really excellent pan.

But my number one:

Global G-2. Bought 6 years ago; used nearly every day.

Combined with this works wonders:

TG Hevea board.

And kept sharp with this:

A few things spring to mind.

The Sonos.

A fridge with a water and ice dispenser.

Nespresso coffee machine.

The Sonos wins.

Nespresso without a doubt. Followed by the AppleTV which does the same duties as a Sonos.

Our (Panasonic) bread maker; fresh (really fresh!) bread two or three times a week. I don't know how long a loaf stays edible because we always eat it before it has a chance to get stale. When the last bread maker broke, it was a matter of urgency to buy a new one.

A water filter. I expected it to be dumped in the back of a cupboard within a few days, but we are on our second one now (the first one didn't survive being dropped on the floor). Apart from tasting better than tap water, filtered water doesn't fur up the kettle.

And then there are the kitchen knives.. a weird mix of cheap department store jobs and one or two Globals.

Ok, so it's not technically a purchase, but I'm rather secretly chuffed to bits I made this 18months ago, and is used every day (ignore the cup ring in the middle!).

I have a terrific little Circulon frying pan that does a fantastic job and is super easy to clean.

+1 on the Global knives - have the same one plus a couple of others and they really are brilliant.

Probably my favourite thing, though, is the slow cooker, which gets used at least 3-4 times a week. Everything from roasts to pasta sauces to curries and chilli con carne, as well as excellent soups. Makes life a zillion times easier and everything comes out delicious.

So much better than any juicer or even powered machine I've ever used. They actually come out of the thing dry.
