Hi All,

I'm looking at heading to the Maldives in Jan for what will be a well earned break. I've been looking at the following resorts (listed below) however Moofushi is the one that stands out. Has anyone been here and if so, how was it? Tips / recommendations etc?
Moofushi
LUX
Komandoo
Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu
Centara Grand
Kihaad

I sent my sister and her husband there for their honeymoon... a week in a Senior Water Villa

They still rave about it now and the photos they took look amazing.
On that basis, I'd recommend it.

If its not too late then request villa number 77 ideally, or failing that any odd numbered villa from 69 upwards, they have the best views of the sunsets apparently!

Have a great holiday.

I was there at the end of June for 9 days and it was great. We were in villa 72 which was ideal but the sun was setting between the odd and even numbers so the best place to see it was at the end of jetty past villa 77. It was great sitting on the edge of the jetty with your feet over the side and seeing nothing but sea between you and the sunset.

You made a good choice with the senior water villa as its a really nice size. Watch out for some of the lower odd numbered senior water villas as the steps can go into sand at low tide whereas all the even numbers lead into water. There is a resident turtle, 'George', that hangs around the coral by the front jetty where the sea planes dock. We watched and swam with it for about an hour one day. The house reef is not as good as others so take advantage of the snorkelling extravaganza which is one of the free excursions as part of the crystal package.

Food wise, its just the usual buffet affair with different themes each night but you do have one visit to the Alizee a la carte restaurant as part of the Crystal package. If you like your wine then sommeliers are great and do try the wine testing on the beach every Thursday. You stand there shin deep sampling wine and you have these baby sharks swimming around your feet.

As you are going in Jan you should be hitting the high season, when we went the temp was about 32 degrees c and it did rain nearly everyday but only for about 20 mins or so. Then it cleared up very quickly. One day we were out snorkelling and the heavens just opened, absolutely chucked it down, but we carried on and by the time we got out of the water it was virtually blue sky again.

As the plaque says on the landing jetty 'No news no shoes' - just kick back and enjoy.

Thanks both thumbup

Yes I have requested an odd numbered villa from 71 and above. Let's hope it works out!

@ Rgee - any excursions or other 'must-do's' you'd recommend? Also regarding drinks, I've seen last year's wine list, which was surprisingly decent. However what sort of beer selection did they have? Was it all part of the AI package? Same for spirits / cocktails too?

You can check out what is included in the Crystal package here

http://moofushiresort.constancehotels.com/images/p...

but I probably don't take advantage of the AI as much I should. All the cocktails are included as well as old world and new world wines, plus spirits and international beers. I stuck with Tiger. Everything in the mini bar is included as well afternoon tea and waffles. I always watch what I eat on these as you could quite easily come back a bit lardy, eating for the sake of it as its there a plenty.

Included is one excursion per person and you have things like sunset cruise, sunset fishing, dolphin seeing, off resort snorkelling and when you go it should be Manta season so I would go on one of these. I swam with a couple last December and they are just majestic. One thing I did have a go at was introductory scuba (not included). Wish I done this earlier as being under the water rather than just snorkelling was a great experience once I learnt how to clear my ears! It was such a calming feeling kneeling on the bottom abeit only 6m down! The house reef isn't that great, its fine if you are a first timer, but I have seen a lot better so the 'Snorkelling Extravaganza' was worth doing. They take you to 2 locations off resort where the reef is a lot better. Oh don't forget a decent underwater camera or GoPro, its amazing what you can see with only your face in the water.

From the moment you land in Male you are met and taken to the Constance seaplane lounge where from thereon the service is excellent.

Fortunate enough to have been twice now, first to Kuredu, which is part of the same group as Komandoo, and last year to Meeru.

Cannot fault the Maldives as a holiday destination at all, always been all inclusive and water villas. Food and drink are of a good standard, and the staff at both locations very very good.

Enjoy, and see you at the C63 meet if it's at the end of Aug.

Just to close this thread off, we had 10 nights at Moofushi around the end of January. It was, without doubt, the best holiday we've ever had. Not cheap, but did feel like good value for everything on offer.

Here are a few pics.

View from the bed:

Island at full capacity (yes really!):

Wine tasting in the lagoon:

Sunset from out villa:

Dinner on the beach:

ah that brings back memories. Did you see the resident 3 flippered turtle?

I did see a turtle on the reef by the Senior Water Villas (south side - odd numbered) but didn't notice how many flippers. On that same stretch of (very shallow) water, I also had a flippin' moray eel out of his burrow and swimming straight towards me. Bloody well crapped myself!

Pretty standard pricing in the Maldives if in a water villa and all inclusive.
