Thanks for all the feedback. I can't understand why BMW won't make an M3 estate as there must be demand for it from enthusiasts wanting driving thrills, performance and space for a labrador.
That's one of the reasons I went for a B7 RS4. I'd seriously contemplate a B8 but the almost universal criticism amongst it gets the motoring press over the B7 has rather put me off. Still tempted though smile
It might well be a 'gentleman's agreement' between Audi and BMW. You don't steal our sales and we won't steal yours...

Late to the party but just picked up a 2014 B8 RS4 after 3 years of dreaming (and grafting!)
Can anyone tell me how to use launch control?

Absolutely love the car - amazed by some of the bad press; it's epic and puts my 997 911 well in its place !

When you're in dynamic or S mode, deactivate ESC by briefly pressing the ESC button once, then press and hold the brake pedal and accelerator pedal until the revs stay high and constant. Take your foot off the brake within 5 seconds.

Hold on tight, and enjoy!

Welcome to B8 ownership smile

Unless you enjoy lurid oversteer all the time and / or you must have a sensation of lots of torque from 1k to 2.5k revs then the RS4 Avant B8 is not for you. For everything else - get an RS4.

My personal favourite behaviour from this car is the ability to cruise around in Comfort mode with the car feeling gentle and comfortable. In Dynamic mode the car is very very sporty and has plenty of (safe) hooligan potential.

Not sure, if (no pun) I apply the 'except if' test to determine whether to use 'unless' or 'if', the sentance still works for me using either word.

i can edit the post to 'if' if you prefer?

Congratulations - I picked one up pretty at the same point you did. Which colour / spec did you go for?
