I've been checking my credit report and while despite some problems in the past I do have a decent score, I defaulted on a car finance loan 7 years ago, I had some personal problems and fell behind on the repayments, the company lodged a default on my credit report, the loan was fully repaid and has been for 6 years now. Is there any way I can get the default notice removed or does it stay on file for as long time goes on??
Any help appreciated

It should drop off once exactly six years has passed, what date does your report say the default was recorded?
Thanks, it was a few days since I last checked I've just checked and the default is gone, it seems like my report has updated recently as a couple of new things have now come on such as my credit card and it's showing my car loan has just finished. Thanks Sarnie, just a last quick question, the only "negative" now on my file says I'm not on the electoral role, which I know I am as I filled out the form when it arrived from the local authority and I also voted in the recent European and local elections we had, any reason why it still says I'm not on the electoral role??
