Hi

I need just one shim, does anyone have a set with a 102 thou in it. Saving me buying one and the postage from a TVR specialist ? Happy to pay . The lowest order value from Power etc is £20 so it would be great if someone had one please.

In my Hillman Imp and Lotus Twin Cam days a slightly too thick shim could be ground down with valve lapping paste on a piece of glass ( an old wing mirror was ideal).

Takes a while!

I have a full shim kit happy to spare one. I'm about in the morning just message me.

I'd avoid grinding shims, unless it's perfectly flat it will become unseated.

Guess my Imp wasn't as temperamental as a Tuscan smile

If you grind in a figure of 8 motion it will take metal off very evenly, but I agree, it is a last resort "I need this engine running tonight" solution.

The speed six has 10mm shims so you'd need some good eyes to do that.

I ground mine! Just remember to put ground face down.

I'll have a look at my spares but not back until tomorrow.

Unusual to need a thicker shim as I thought the valves stretched a bit over time and revs and the valve moved into the seat. Opening up would indicate wear somewhere, double check? Last time I did mine they all closed up.

I have now got one thank you, all installed.
I needed two smaller, but bought them with some other parts and realised I needed one other a bigger one.

Is this one beyond grinding smash

(just in case anyone is thinking I am serious... I have replaced it!)
