I still have mine from circa 2005, a crystal model, 2 crystal pads and a few games to boot. I'm sourcing another one along with a few more pads and having a LAN match with them, with mates.

We all had one when they first came out but I cannot decide on what games to do.

Halo, Halo 2 and Midtown madness 3 are currently on the cards (we've all played these) but can anyone remember? or recommend a good multiplayer game for it? So games that can do split screen + network play.

So 2 TV's, 2 xbox originals, lets say a minimum of 4 pads hopefully 6 if I can.

Wow that is a blast from the past, yep I remember doing that over many a lads nights. I think the games we mainly used to play where:-

Counter-Strike
&
Project Gotham Racing

But I also remember pretty frantic playing of:-
Unreal Championship 2

Remember you need either a hub/switch or cross over land cables to connect them together.

I fondly remember doing Halo/Halo 2 double/triple teams with two Xbox on a LAN.
Two teams in adjacent rooms, close enough to hear the cries of anguish when you made a funny kill and tea bagged the cadaver, but far enough that there could be no screen watching other than to assist your teammates.

Thanks guys, how could I forget project gotham racing!

Also thanks for the mention on the switch idea, I've already sorted that - I have an 8 port switch and the consoles with be on static IP's smile

Halo does seem to be the main game that peaks our interest so I think most of the night will be playing that along with drinking beer, eating junk food and reminiscing on times when we had no responsibilities!

I miss playing Halo. Ludicrously fun game that gets under skin. I found it so naturally easy to play, I've never had that with any other game.

You've already said the best Xbox game (Midtown Madness 3), but how about Rallisport Challenge 2 (very, very good fun and 4 player split-screen), and Kung Fu Chaos for ridiculous party fun?

Miss mine - I still have it but bricked it years ago trying to do something with XBMC.

Quite OT - but don't forget you can play the original Halo online in the new Master Chief collection on Xbox one

(not the same at all as a LAN event obviously!...but better than nothing?)

Prepped and ready to LAN. I have owned that crystal Xbox, with pads, since new and its hard-modded. My missus kindly picked up the two black pads from cash converters today at £5 each and I snagged the black Xbox along with a black and green pad, with games for £15.

Bargain, a nights entertainment for sub £30, mates just have to bring the beer and order the pizza!

Halo 1, 2, Midtown madness 3, Unreal Tournament, PGR2. 2 TV's, 2 xboxes, 6 pads, what can possibly go wrong!

Mix up the game modes and you can play for hours.

So my component leads have arrived today. Massive improvement over composite. The dash is now in glorious 720p. Games are clearer but that means the jaggies show up more.

Halo 1 is much better with the NTSC copy. So first 45mins of the lan match is halo 1 rally mode. (People on warthogs getting points on map)

Halo 2 for the next hour with custom game modes.

Unreal championship for the following hour.

All this subject to change if we get another Xbox on the go, which would allow 2 people per Xbox times 3. So then we got project Gotham 2, mech warrior and god knows what else! 2 player Split screen + system link has a lot more games available to us.

How about:
COD 3, Links 2004, Rogue Trooper, a Star Wars game, one of the Rainbow Six or Ghost recon games ?

I love the idea, but why not just use xbox 360?

Presuming if you love halo you continued onto that platform, just play the updated original halo through that on system link, at one time was it possible to play your xbox games on the 360, or download games from the store, I have fusion Frenzy on my 360 that was a good laugh with mates.

Looks like a good evening to be honest!

sniper battles on COD over LAN.

Turn the screens back to back so there is no screen watching, makes for a tense game.
