as per the title really i've got a hands but dont like the lack of side impact protection. so considering changing to a simpson hybrid. it also look easier to get inand out of a cr with it in a driver change. a lot of gt driver seem to be switching

Also very interested in this - I do find the hans device very restrictive and cumbersome, but I guess that is what it is meant to do! Interested to see some reviews of the Simpson

The latest MSA News says that some HANS devices are no longer legal.

I'm working away at the moment so have not got my MSA News. Does it say why. They are not lifed.

I must admit that I was nervous about using one at first (about 10 years ago) but within a couple of laps I was totally comfortable and haven't bothered about it since. The sliding tethers are better than the original version and I wouldn't race without one.

i dont have a problem with the hans, and i dont find it restrictive.

the issue is the lack of side impact and ease of driver changes,

Why
Lack of side impact restraint on my HANS Adjustable

The Hybrid is great, much more comfortable to wear so recommended....

sound like the ticket then, its wierd, ever since a side impact at tower in 2001 I've always worn a neck brace then went to a hand 18 months ago. with the hans i feel more vulnerable !! knowing the problems a side impact can give you ( thousands in ohysio over the years since).

add that to the problems getting in and out of a car with a hans on quickly i think the hybrid might be my next purchase

I always 'notice' the HANS, getting and and out of the car, helmet touching the front and so on. The Simpson Hybrid is the opposite, I tried to take my helmet off with the hybrid still attached as I had forgotten it was still attached.

Very please with the unit from Mark Higgins Motorsport.

I have switched from a Hans to a Simpson Hybrid and overall I prefer it. It is more comfortable and much easier during a driver change. It is more adjustable and I have less restrictive head movement in the car with what feels like more protection. The belts sit more easily in place.

The only downside is that it is much more difficult to put on and take off, so you must remember to get ready in plenty of time for your stint, there is no just slipping it on and jumping in...!
