Have done this before and it was easy.

However mapquest no longer recognises the Garmin satnav.

I haven't altered any settings from the last time uploaded a route.

It's not a complicated route i.e.massive number of waypoints.
The satnav accepts routes, it's a Garmin 760.
Plenty of space on memory
I have the latest version of Garmin Communicator Plugin installed and working.
Chrome is up to date.
Cable and usb connection seems OK.

Yet when I click the drop down send on Mapquest, instead of getting the Garmin GPS option it just gives me options for email and Facebook. I think there might be some other options missing but can't recall what they are.

Used to get options on next screen to send to the GPS or the SD card.

Must be doing something stupid but can't figure out what the hell it is.

Oh Windows 7 64 bit if that helps. I might try another browser but they say they are having problems with Int explorer so maybe it's a chrome issue too?

Puzzled. Any ideas?

Bit confused by that answer really. What do you mean by mapquest gone? The link to send to gps devices gone. Support for garmin gone or what?

Basecamp is what I am now using but frankly hate it.

Sending routes from Google is possible but a real faff having to go through all sorts of conversion software stages.

Mapquest was sort of in between. Reasonable mapping and user interface with a one click transmission of a route. It worked ok less than 10 days ago.

As an aside annoying that the route Basecamp provides needs to be checked out in detail on the satnav as it has a real habit of trying to send you up some miles of single tracks for the sake of saving 100 yards. Stupid device.

Fif......I purchased a new Garmin a few months ago to replace my older Garmin. Downloading all the software/upgrades to my new Garmin I was offered to download Basecamp? What's Basecamp? Further investigation lead to the fact that Basecamp had replaced Mapquest. Loads of information on various forums regarding the limitations of Basecamp over Mapquest.

I went to France the other week and used the infuriating Basecamp to plan my routes, I did it eventually but I didn't have much confidence in the software, however I got there and back OK.

Thanks for that. Infuriating Basecamp just about sums it up.

Maybe it will improve and can definitely see how it allows one to manage driving, cycling and walking routes in a manageable way with folders.

But planning, sheesh. Good to hear that it works in unfamiliar areas in practice as a couple of familiar routes I planned gave the wrong answer. By wrong answer mean that they failed to deal satisfactorily with a couple of deliberate "trick questions" where local knowledge rules. Maybe that makes them unfair trick questions tbh.

As a complete aside, tried both routes in Waze, boom, straight in without problem.
