Scottish Car Show 2014
Discussion
I detest the fact they call it The Scottish motor show as if it is something official and meaningful.
People in the past did turn up to see a proper event and not yoofs and boy racers.
It is more in keeping of Max Power than anything.
Given your smilies, mentioning the show then Track and Street Grampian, your post is more of a sarcastic wind up than being serious?

You ever think people actually like to see these things? There is a large following for modified cars in Scotland, the event is open to all clubs, so I'm sure if the Ferrari or the Porsche guys wanted to go, they would probably go. We don't have enough large car events in Scotland as it is, we should be advocating them not refuting them. Regardless of who attends, just because you can't afford an exotic does not mean you cannot enjoy cars.
Wrong mindset my friend.
@OP I will be attending with some friends, quite looking forward to the event. Think we have a couple of nice cars on our stand, lovely R34 Skyline attending I believe, absolutely mint.

I've no doubt people like this event. There has been events like this for years.
I went and thought it was pretty awful. It was a 90's throwback in most ways and the parts that I thought we left behind.
You enjoy it, fair enough.
It'd be better to advertise it as a modified car show than an official sounding title of The Scottish Car Show.
It doesn't reflect what the majority of people want to see at a car show in my opinion.
Are the tickets half price on Groupon again this year?
It's one of the biggest shows that happens in Scotland, the organiser is a pHer and an aberdonian PHer won best car in his fettled Audi R8 last year.
Fair does calling me a chav, I'll avoid you on any future meets organised on here and leave you to be a true enthusiast, not a chav.
Eta: to the serious poster, I'll hopefully see you there. It's a great day out with decent folk, there's lots of nice motors going. A couple R34s & surpas from abz, JM imports are bringing their 1000+bhp road legal skyline, David had his V10 viper engined S15 out last year, too.

Im tending to lean toward Driver101 on this one. I consider myself a bit of a petrolhead. Im 45 and I have owned over 60+ cars, yes 60+ . My father who celebrates his 70th birthday next week is also a massive petrolhead. Used to be a mechanic and then joined the RAC when it 'was' the RAC circa early 70's. From the previous times Ive been, and from what Ive seen and heard lately I wouldnt bother taking my father along to this show. I know he would last 5 minutes then walk out. He's into cars in a big way ,but f@rt can exhausts , subwoofers , huge rims and garish paint jobs wont float his boat. Horses for courses but calling it the Scottish Car Show is a bit misleading . Throw in the word 'Modified' and it would mean people would get what they expect.
I'll be heading down in the same group as Rod. The show is always a good day out with a wide selection of cars not just "fart can exhausts" and "subwoofers". Last year there were some gorgeous retro cars there and some other classics that really impressed. I guess it's down to what you make of the day yourself.

Kind of agree, it used to be called Fast & Modified and was a huge attraction to various car clubs and marques. I'm not saying that there aren't nice cars there but the event started to lean heavily towards the "modified" scene than anything else. I agree with the previous posters that the name of the show needs to more accurately reflect what it's about. Other than that, surely it's a win/win situation?
Option 1: If you like this sort of thing, take your car and go fill your boots.
Option 2: If you don't like modified cars, you can look forward to enjoying a weekend with proportionately less of 'those that like this sort of thing' on the streets.

Will be attending with a group of some 25 American cars ranging from mid sixties Mustangs right up to cutting edge hardly out the packet Mustang GT500s plus other marques. The Ford Mustang turns 50 this year hence the top heavy Mustang presence.
Infact should be putting on the largest generation spanning display of Corvettes under one roof ever in Scotland.(fingers crossed)
Well aware it's mostly a modified show but what the heck.We all enjoy burning petrol so better we embrace the spectacle of the show than alienating people. Till Sunday....

I probably won't be going as I've got a track day that day. At least it means it's probably going to be quiet on track!
I'd agree about the name, I actually still call it Fast & Modified at least in conversation.
Nothing wrong with the show mind you! I'd have gone if I didn't already have plans, yes there is a lot of stuff that in my opinion is tat but that's life, different strokes and all that. Depends what circle you are in what is nice or not. Plus there is always such a broad range at a big show like this that there is always something worth going for. See above for example, the 'stangs may not fit the whole F&M thing but well worth seeing. Something to go look at if you don't like Hatchbacks with £15k thrown at them.
