Is this a serious post? My 944 Turbo managed 3,000 on a pair of new rear tyres. I wouldn't expect a great deal more from an RS6 - do you?
Is this one one that does 13 mpg, seriously, have you welded the throttle open ?

I am activey trying to kill the cheap st Chinese rubbish the PO of my 350Z put on to sell it and they, dissapointingly, look like new still.
16-18mpg Mark but still not great. Selling again? What are you looking for now?

My nan got 11k out of her 500 abarth, apparently this is not unusual, so I guess half that but with 3x the power is quite good.

Geo setting ok? Too much toe will rip tyres apart. But anyway I'd not expect much more think my 2.7T Quattro used to manage about 10,000mikes a set but then they are only 225/16's so £90 a corner. MR2 <1000kg & 190bhp has averaged 2000miles a set of Yoko's at ~£110 a corner but it's life has been on tracks.

I've averaged 20,000 a set from my 1.6tdi Octavia over the last 3 1/2 years with only 102hp so 6,000 miles with 450hp sounds exceptionally good to me :-)

I've never, ever had anything close to 30,000 miles out of a set of tyres on any car.
I have on the rear of a FWD car, but the fronts no where near that.

For any performance car I'd think anything between 6-9k is excellent. 10k would be the average if you drive like Miss Daisy most of the time.

Record was the rear on my GTR... lasted 2k miles before wearing to the thread.
Indeed my old 540sport managed 10-11k on the rears. VXR8 was somewhat lower.

o/p Forget 30-40k on anything other than an electric scooter.

Not what I'm used to (30-40k out of a set) driving just as spirited.
I hear the road tax is expensive too, have you considered trading it for a diesel 3 Series? Good deals on leases at the moment.

As said above, when do you see a spin in an rs6 from standing start????
Mine has over 500 bhp and I will see 10k+ miles to a set of eagle f1s.

I replaced all 4 tyres 1.5k miles ago with brand new Michelin PS2 R01's 8mm of tread.

Over these miles I've been driving normally with a bit of Fun here and there - however today I decided to check the tread depths to find that all 4 had a wear spread 6.5/7/7.5 inside/middle/outside so 1.5mm tread loss in 1.5k miles... Assuming the wear is linear then I have 4.9mm until they are on the limit inside edge.

So is 6.4k miles out of hard rubber really a wear rate to expect from near on £900 worth of tyres? About 14 pence per mile on tyres or it would mean two sets of tyres at least a year for me

Pressure is set correctly and no loss of any pressure from fitting.
It's the 4wd old Quattro eating rubber. You should know that

Tax is only about £280pa as its pre the new banding so identical to my old 300d

But to date my total spend is scale raging to well over £800pcm - without need for expensive changes like cambelts brakes or anything which breaks - so I am very much weighing things up at the moment nearly a year so a real potential time to change.

On an RS6 you are doing well I would say. We hear from a number of high performance customers and tyre wear is always an issue. There are often a lot of variables involved - driving style etc. If you are mainly a motorway driver you will get more out of your tyres than if you are mainly a city driver (Stopping and starting). On a car like this make sure you stick to premium brands.

TyreReviews is a good site for tyre reviews on mileage etc.

18k is impressive!!! I switched to MPSS after 1st set and never had any that lasted over 10k but I do tend to change when threads are around 3-2.5mm. I find Dunlops wear quicker especially around the inside.

Still smiles per gallon and all that I suppose, all that grip has to come at a price!

The best place to ask this question is over on the RS246 forum, are you a member?

Where abouts are you based and whereabouts do you get the car serviced?

Do you do a lot of drifting in the car and track days?

the bit of fun hear and there is where all your rubber went
1.5k of normal driving took away probably somewhere between 0.3 and 1mm depending on what you call normal driving
the rest went in probably less than 25 miles of hard acceleration, braking and cornering.
I can pretty much double the life of my tyres by avoiding my 2 favourite roundabouts

The downside to heavy performance cars is the cost of tyres and brakes compared to light cars of similar bhp per ton.

That sounds out of whack!

I'm running a new M5, now over 10k miles with plenty left on my rear Michelin Pilot Supersports.

RWD so over double the BHP each rear tyre has to deal compared to an RS6.

Also >80% of my driving is B Roads so plenty of acceleration/cornering smile

Audi Q7s get about 5k from a tyre, the RS6 is a bit lighter but not much.

I'd expect brakes to wear quite quickly too.

Another question for you Beefcake; why are you running 235's?
