Could I ask the question what typically paid for van insurance ???
I'm sure the costs are as variable as car & home insurance, however, being entirely new to the van scene, I'm putting costs together and trying to justify ownership
Initially looked at a new van, which as a starter van is probably not best advised as the prospect of initial heavy depreciation for something were not entirely sure on is daunting!
Having priced and accepted storage charges I found the insurance cost massive, amounting to more than I pay for two car policies is this typical or have I went to the wrong place ?
Also is van insurance necessary ?

Caravan club seem very expensive, we pay half that!

Maybe. OP check the cover carefully.

Some of the companies (the cheap ones) insisted on a wheel clamp being fitted whenever caravan left.... Sounds like a bellyache at services. Caravan Club for instance insist on this if left only for more than 8 hours.

Im with the caravan club, although im paying £128 a year. A lot of this boils down to keeping it at home, and then the age and value of the caravan I think!

Crickes

Even the dearest quote on these pages is half what I was quoted + some
My first quote was for £434 with hitch lock alarm & wheel clamp perhaps I'll revisit the storage sites as I'm sure that must have some detriment!

£180.00 with Safeguard on an Alcoa Silver site. They were very good at paying out for a minor scrape I had too.
