Hello
perhaps someone can help?
I recently moved home and the house has Cable fitted. I signed up with Virgin and the engineer came around and fitted the Tivo and broadband in the lounge. I then asked him about another TV that I had seen fitted, when viewing the house, in a snug room. He looked at it and confirmed that it was in fact Virgin and a live feed too.
If I bought a second hand Tivo box, would I be able to connect this to this socket and watch TV in this other room?
Any help would be appreciated?
regards

I signed up to virgin last year after moving house. I ditched sky from the old house and moved to Virgin as that was what had been installed previously. When I signed up, package was basic TV, phone, broadband. Received a TiVo box and second V+ box as part of package. Would have thought you would have got same

If I bought a second hand Tivo box....
You cannot buy Virgin boxes - they are (and remain) the property of Virgin Media for the duration of, and after the end of your contract.Anyone selling a Virgin box is doing so illegally.
Also - even if you did manage to get a box, you will need a viewing card and have said card and box associated to your VM account.
A second box is cheap - just ask them.
As per above - with VM you don't own the boxes, (certainly the case for Tivo - not sure about the older boxes though) so you won't be able to use a sold one.
Before you go any further - have a think about whether you want VM in any of the other rooms. The Tivo boxes can be controlled by iphone / ipad app over a network. In my case, I have two Tivo boxes (one upstairs and one downstairs). I have bought a couple of HDMI splitters and taken second feeds off to other rooms. This means that I have access to Tivo in several of the rooms but with only two boxes. The obvious downside here is that the feed coming off one box will be the same when split, so you would have to watch the same prog on each split. In our case, not a problem as I have divided the rooms up in such a way that we wouldn't want to watch in both rooms at the same time.
In terms of multi room - VM will offer you a package but it sounds like you have already signed a contract, so they have you over a barrel at the moment. They will of course offer you another box but they will charge you for it. Re-negotiate at renewal time and get it included for nothing.
