Hello,

We were struck by lightning last week loosing the TV, Playstation, alarm system, NAS box, Router, Sky HD box plus a few other bits, the claim is now nearly settled but the TV is causing me a head ache.

We had a Samsung UE40B7020 7000 series LED TV, now it was far from new about 5 years but still performed imo extremely well, looked good and was super slim on the wall.
The replacement I'm being offered is a Samsung UE40H5500, this seems to me to be a far lower spec TV than I have but they are adamant they will only match the specification of my blown up TV and that this 5000 series is exactly that? They don't give two monkeys that it is four times thicker (a big issue as the original was bought partly because it was so slim) and they will only match on specification.

Now obviously this replacement is not going to match the current 7000 ones but does is match mine? Mine was 100hz motion plus edge LED and the replacement is 100hz does that mean they are the same or is the replacement offered better or worse? I would obviously like the new 7000 series but that looks impossible but figure there may be some room for upward movement if I can prove the specification of my old one was better than what I'm being offered? I have already noticed that the replacement only has three HDMI sockets as opposed to four so that is my starting point but I could really do with some advice from people who under stand these things far more than I do...

Any advice great fully appreciated. smile

I had a laptop stolen during a house break in, the offered replacement wasn't compatible with the one I lost, in ways you describe. Mine was a really thin laptop from hp's business range with a matte screen.

I argued the point on that they were trying to supply the new one with a USB Bluetooth dongle, I suggested it wasn't a good match.

Long story short they gave me a pre loaded credit cars instead.
