Just thought I would pop in and say Hi as I am new to cc&yh.

I am like a small child on Christmas Eve for tomorrow I take delivery of a pristine 1968 Mk 1 Interceptor. Excitement doesn't tell half the story.

I am looking forward to contributing on here in the near future and yes I will post pictures as soon as I can.

I'll follow this with excitement.

I was lucky enough to rent one last Friday. Unfortunately, it only lasted 30 miles before the bottom radiator hose blew, but what a thoroughly fantastic 30 miles it was!!

I'm renting it again when it's fixed and truly cannot wait.

To own one.... You're one person I envy.

Not quite the hard shoulder but the side of the A23 to be precise smile and this was just after leaving the petrol station!

The car arrived on Saturday with a flat battery but a jump start soon sorted that. It is an amazing looking thing and has so much presence it is almost bordering on ridiculous. My first drive was through some sunny Sussex lanes and a few villages. It is extraordinary how you just waft along gripping a really thin large wheel. This car is as much fun to drive as my others but couldn't be more different.

Anyway after 50 miles or so I thought that the battery should have picked up some charge so I decided to stop at the petrol station ("Decided" is probably the wrong word, "had to" is more appropriate). Once filled I was pleased to hear the engine turn and fire up. That V8 sounds superb. A short distance down the road there was a very strong smell of petrol and I thought I may have not put the fuel cap back on properly so I pulled over to check and foolishly switched off. The battery didn't want to work again!

A phone call and a 15 minute wait soon had a fellow PHer at my side to give me another jump start and off we went again. On testing the battery it is knackered and a new one is going in tomorrow.

In summary the car is great and I know It is going to be a love hate relationship. I am going to love driving it but hate the constant visits to the petrol station.

All being well I will be at the South East meet tomorrow night so if you see the car pop over and say Hi.

Sorry that there are no pics, in my excitement to take delivery of the car I didn't bring my camera with me but pics will follow soon.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jensen ownership, the trips to the petrol station are not too bad cos if your filling it up you must be using it and thats always fun.

Some people think 14 MPG is bad but 60s and 70s cars were not generally good on fuel, my 2.3L Vauxhall Victor only gets around 24MPG on a good day so put into perspective a 6.3L or 7.2L V8 with a lot more weight to pull returning 14MPG is not too bad and the V8 burble is worth the extra cost alone.

Dont forget those photos so we can all have a drool.

I saw this last night at Redhill Aerodrome - looked stunning and nicely patinated since it's restoration, so clearly well loved but also used smile

Big thumbs up from me - was one of my 2 favourite cars of the evening, the other being the Lotus Carlton that appeared in better than new condition smile

Dave lovely to meet you last night, thanks for the chinwag.

As promised I said I would mention that I can confirm that Dave does indeed own said interceptor... and a very nice 964RS that was parked next to it...

Both cars looked superb - congrats on a great fleet you have by the sounds of things.
