Hi there,

I'm about to order an M performance exhaust system for my M-lite.

The price I have been given is;

Parts - £847.51 + VAT

Labour (1 hour) - £165 + VAT

So £1,215 in total.

Is this comparable to prices others have achieved, can one ask for a discount on such items? I don't have the know-how to fit it myself.

Thanks in advance.

Great sounding system (from the outside). Just a shame it costs so much.

Id definitely try to get a discount. What have you got to lose.

Have you considered the BCS system? Has a boost operated valve so quieter when normal driving and then almost a straight through system when booting it? Think it is around £800, there is a group buy/discount on babybmw I'm sure!

£1215 for a backbox, that's improves the sound a bit and nothing else.........

I'll take 20!!!!!

Or look at the BCS option already mentioned and spend the rest on a JB4.

Would the BCS system affect the Warranty?

I had one fitted to my M235i for £995 all in. Is it worth the money? probably not. Does it sound good, you bet it does. Also worth noting. It doesn't drone at motorways speeds like some can.

A word of caution. Some of the cheaper quotes out there don't include the tips.

It's a subjective thing, so I won't say you're wrong given I'm a sensible person.

Which of its direct competitors have a better exhaust note then?

listen, i have a m135i 14 plate, great little car for my work, but that turbo really blocks the sound, listen to any of the you tube vids of after market systems, they all sound crap

dont know about direct competitors, but my wifes cayman s, got a after market system, you wouldnt believe the difference, not just louder but a whole new sound

Can't you just get yourself down to demon tweaks or somewhere and buy yourself a back box or middle section or something. Does seem a huge cost or is this too simplistic

You can indeed. The issue with that is risking voiding the warranty, which is why I decided against it.

I don't need to listen to the sound in the videos as I've got it first hand. It's certainly a different sound to standard. I'm not claiming it's as dramatic as god gargling molten lava of course. Each to their own as they say.
