Some opinions please.

I'll be soon needing some front tyres on my VXR8. I changed the rears (again!) recently and am trying Khumo, which I paid £133 for.

Local to my work in Cambridge, I can buy for £153 http://www.abbeytyre.co.uk/ or the best online are http://www.tyreleader.co.uk/car-tyres-245-40-19/ £108 today (were £104 in the week). £90 less fitting saving.

Are tyre leader's supply good? There was talk on here IIRC that someone had inadvertently bought older stored tyres and they had degraded due to UV.

Thanks, Steve

My last pair of MPSS came from tyre leader. Seem ok, had issues with a vibration at speed but that was solved with a road force balance and extended bedding in (1000+ miles)

On that tyre thread, the tyres were 18 months old, so we're not sure that was the problem.

If you're buying Kumho KU39s, then they have only been out for a year or so, so you can't get old ones. smile

MPSS, simply the best out there. Buy other makes if you can't stomach the cost but nothing else comes close to their performance.

I ask for the date code when I purchase to make sure yr not paying OTT for older stock.

I'm personally a big fan of the Goodyear Eagle F1's, but haven't tried the MPSS' on mine so not sure how they'd compare.

Kumho technology is improving all the time and they have some very good performance tyres.

They will not beat the Goodyear F1s for performance but there is a big difference in price so will depend on your budget.

We would say consider something from Yokohama – they have some of the best performance tyres on the market.

Hope this info is of use.

I've bought car and bike tyres from them with no problems.

They do sell tyres over a year old but they are listed separately and state the date of production on them (marked as DOT). If they don't have a DOT number listed on the site they should be new.

Hi ya,

I changed the rears in April - 2 x £133 back in April. £104 for fronts plus a tenner fitting - sometime soon :-)

Ahh thougt you meant the fronts were cheap but rears not, looks like they are all cheap. Hard to ignore this discount, might have to revise my plans smile

Same for me there the best I have fitted on my previous AMG and my VXR8

I was the one that bought from tyreleader and found out they were 18 months old, seems it is only illegal to sell you tyres over 5 years old, which is when the manufactures warranty runs out. so it explains why they are cheap. I was surprised to buy tyres that were older than the tyres I bought last year. once I found a company that could actually use a balancing machine all was good.

Glad you got sorted. cool

The problem is that once you are unsettled by a problem, it takes time to renew your trust in the product.

Balancing is critical. The VXR8 wheels are really heavy.

I've been thinking about getting new tyres for a while, so when I saw this thread and the Kumho KU39 prices, I ordered 4 tyres from tyreleader. Overall a good experience: Ordered Sunday, they were delivered to the local Vauxhall dealer on Wednesday, all tyres have manufactured date of late 2013 (4113 & 5013).

The only problem was the local vauxhall dealer realised their tyre fitting machine couldn't handle 19" rims (doh!), but credit to them, they sorted it all out with another tyre fitting place nearby and didn't charge me (because of the inconvenience).

Anyway, bottom line is I was happy with tyreleader and would use again.
