When people see my VXR8, they say what is it!!!

So, at the risk of sounding like a real numpty, am I driving a Vauxhall or Holden.!!!!!!

What should my reply be!!!

Now there`s a loaded question.

Regards.

Dave S

Only had it since Jan 14.

Personally it depends who I'm talking to smile. Sometimes I'll say it's a HSV other times it's a Vauxhall.

Fundamentally it's a Holden with some badge engineering applied in the factory to "make" it a Vauxhall.

Happy to be corrected by the anoraks paperbag

I overheard someone yesterday calling our Ute a Vauxhall. rolleyes

As for yours, technically it is a Vauxhall VXR8, manufactured by Holden Special Vehicles (HSV). Next you'll have the quizzical look that goes with HSV. For ages I've been telling people that HSV to Holden is like AMG to Mercedes, and it shuts them up. smile

The spec is basically the same as an HSV R8 Clubsport.

Dave

I have just done 450 miles in mine this week, had lots of + comments including "its not a new Lexus is it" redface

Just tell them its a Badge engineered HSV sold as a Vauxhall but its not really a Vauxhall, then they will go away confused

Ian is right, tell them its a fancy modded Holden made by HSV, aka Alpina/BMW - AMG/Mercedes - that should satisfy them or really get them confused

That's the main problem. They've been changed, or removed. hehe

I thought Holden manufactured the base car? (the Commodore) which they then supply to HSV, as a complete vehicle. HSV then bolt on all the good stuff and re-name it the R8 Clubsport. Which then gets de-badged, sent over here, and re-badged as a Vauxhall.

Or am I talking bks laugh

Are you confused by the Vauxhall badge and Vauxhall name on the car?

No, it's a very grey area, and difficult to say what a manufacturer is, when 60-70% of parts are supplied from outside the assembly plant for all modern manufacturers. They have HSV VINs rather than Holden ones, they use engines that are not found in any of the Holden range, and the factory tour would be a bit short if it was all done at Holden's plant, so that's good enough for me. wink

Not yet but very soon (sorting out in next couple of weeks) .....can't wait.............testing my very low levels of patience.

I missed Spa and Z (was down to do both) decided to use 964......picked it up sat I was supposed to be leaving and after getting it home had major oil leak from the oil tank. Game over! Only good thing is it happened here not on arrival in Belgium. Oh well.......2015 it will have to be
