In a fortnight's time, I'm picking up an African Pygmy hedgehog! After a long line of hamsters and rats, I decided it was time for something more interesting! I haven't had a pet for quite some time and as much as I'd love a cat or a dog, I'm either allergic, or I just don't have the time.

The girlfriend is hugely excited about the new addition and I'm surprised how many colleagues at work, both male and female, have melted over the photos of him! That said, I've had a few 'isn't it cruel to keep hedgehogs?' comments.

So, does anyone on here keep pygmy hedgehogs? I have the cage, silent spinner and a whole host of other items on order, but I'm not entirely sure what bedding and cage flooring to get? There doesn't seem to be much hedgehog specific stuff for sale! Also, has anyone found a decent house/bed? CagesWorld sell a large igloo, but they seem to force you to buy two, which equates to £30. That's not terrible, but I only need one!

Anyway, here's unnamed! Apparently, I should call him Kiwi ...
