Anyone gone from E46 M3 to e63 M6 coupe?

Wondered what are the main differences?

I would love 507bhp but dont want to compromise too much on the handling front.

Does the 6 feel noticeably larger / less responsive and engaging? Is it too big for b-road / alpine blast?

an alternative i suppose is to charge the M up to 550. no v10 howl though.

Go for it. Running costs are crazy though so buy AUC only.

Today mine got stuck on the M62 in traffic due to an accident on the motorway. Creeped 5 miles and used 1/4 tank of fuel in stop start nose to tail traffic. Almost made me cry.

I've made this transition previously.

The M6 did feel a lot bigger, but then it also felt a lot bigger than the 2 E60 m5's I've owned too. Huge bonnet.

Running costs are very high, as mentioned I would only go AUC for piece of mind.

Performance wise though it's a completely different ball park, it will knock your fking socks off.

Handling, yes the m6 felt heavier, not as nimble and not as throwable as the m3.

Worthwhile change or regretful?

Charging the m3 I suppose would provide similar performance without the soundtrack.

Not exactly the same (E36 M3 vs E60 M5) but the E60 M5 is significantly quicker, soundtrack of course is glorious, luxury and refinement way better but it is a bit of a barge and not as chuckable. E63 M6 is even wider and longer...

All depends on what you want from your car really.

Is it still good fun on the twisties? Gotta be good to hoon.

Interesting you say it feels bigger than a 5 series.

Looking at the 6 as inet suggests its a good 100kg lighter than the 5 and i dont need back seats.

Not as chuckable as an M3 but plenty composed enough. Set up the M button to the stiffest setting and it is a bit of a weapon. The A629 between Huddersfield to Sheffield is a favourite road of mine. It is epic down there and utterly composed.

It sits lower by 2" over the E60 and turns in much sharper. I have raced against an E92 M3 and there was little in it....until we got to a straight road and then it was auf wiedersehen pet biggrin
