Ion Tiriac's garage
Discussion
A Romanian billionaire, he became famous in the '70s as a tennis pro, later managed Boris Becker, then went on to make several enterprises which have amassed his rather large wealth.
He also happens to be a huge car fan. I've seen some of his cars driving around Bucharest and was told he had a nice collection, I didn't know they were open to the public until recently, so at the first opportunity, I went for a look around.
These are only some of his cars, he rotates them around every month or so.
Enjoy, I think his taste in cars is fantastic.
Start with the first Beetle, which wasn't a Beetle, it was a Mercedes. This predated the Beetle by a few years heavily influencing it.
I was amazed to see he had an integrale, felt almost at home
The girl there told me he has two, one is pink, by that I suspect he has a Candy red dealer collection.
This one is a 93 car, one of the last grp A cars produced by Abarth.
540k roadster!

Amazing eclectic collection. Lucky guy, and thanks for posting. Just a shame that most of them will probably not get driven very often if ever
This is the crazy thing. They are driven, Every week he takes one out, when we pulled up his body guard was taking his family out in a stunning 30's Royce. I've seen a few of them driving around on the highway. A couple of months ago I saw him out in his gorgeous 1955 Mercedes 300sl, they are big money cars, and Romania is full of potholes!!I've got more photo's of some of his american and very early cars. When get the chance I'll post them up.
The two white yank queens - Camaro and Firebird really surprised me. I walked straight past the first time around dismissing them (In my head thinking about how 300bhp would love them). The power bulge on the Z28 stood out (as did the horrible chrome wheels)- I had a read of the bio- It's an ex-police unmarked interceptor car, one of 310, 700 bhp!!
Then I had a look at the ex Indi-pace car Firebird, it was a 1989 car. The engine is a small block 3.8 liter Turbo. In its day the quickest thing in the states, very rare, I can't remember exactly the figures but am sure 0-60 in 4.8secs and 0-100 13.8 secs. For 1989, that was incredibly fast.
Edit- there are 70 cars in here of 250

Great collection, love the 70s trio of Urraco, Montreal and SM.
Wonder if he sourced some of the limos from Nicolae Ceausescu's estate?
I think a lot of the cars he acquired at a time when they weren't so expensive. he has a great eye for design. The Montreal is in a lovely shade of chestnut metallic and the condition is perfect, as all his cars are. I'm looking forward to see what else he has locked away.Wonder if he sourced some of the limos from Nicolae Ceausescu's estate?
Just did a quick google....
