It's a 1970 Datsun 240z, 4 speed manual, US import from California.

The paintwork is horrendous and it needs the carb re-jetted and set up properly as ran like a dog but it still got me 600 miles from Guildford to Aberdeen with only a few roadside bodges wink

Plans are not to everyones liking in terms of low and wide but it's what i've bought the car for so it'll be happening!

Immediate Plans
Re-jet carbs and get running perfect
Seats/Harnesses/Cage
Lowered
Wide Ass Wheels
Carbon bolt on arches
Carbon duck tail spoiler
Front AirDam lip

Future Plans
Engine swap - LS1 or 2JZ
Full Respray - Dark gunmetal of some sort
Re-trimmed Interior

Anyway time for photos

A few jobs completed over the last few weeks.

De-bumpered the rear
Bought a new set of wheels ready for when the cars a little lower. You'll see from the photos that it doesn't sit quite right being higher.
Removed all the AC as it wasn't working or even connected! More room now for a new rad and electric fan kit.

Next - Fit the seats and harnesses, get some coilovers made and get the fuel tank welded up

Sounds like a wicked little project actually. Not a huge fan of the stance scene but as long as its done tastefully I think this will turn out quite well!

I find these old Datsun's pretty sweet and I approve of an LS1 swap! If you havent seen it and have 20 minutes to spare you might find this cool:

Congrats! Love these, especially with bolt on arches and ducktail (go for the race car style with extended sides down the wings a little). Hope you're keeping the louvred hatch? Would be cool to wrap it (the hatch not the car) in a Japanese flag??

If you're thinking of an engine swap, why not an RB26? I feel like these cars have to have a straight six and to me the RB makes more sense than the 2JZ as it's a Nissan engine.

Will be interesting how this turns out, some of the 240Zs you see on Stanceworks look amazing but others not so much. It's a rare car these days, would be a shame to ruin it.

Ruin depends on your point of view. I know that this won't be to everyones tastes and accept that. (Also one of the reasons i put "stanced" in the thread title).

The car will be put back together well and this wont be a bodge job. I'll make the car my own and hopefully change a few opinions in the process smile

Awesome project OP, love these cars and they look so much better modernised. I'm glad those hideous US spec bumpers are in the bin as well.

Good luck and I can't wait to see it finished.

G nose. You know it makes sense.

Lovely car and sounds like potentially an interesting project. Any idiot can "stance" a car, just look at the number of ruined Mk1/Mk2 golfs out there. I have a feeling you're not going to really "stance" it though and your just going to mod it tastefully!

Nice car. Not really my thing, this excessive camber and wide tyre thing - but its your car. But it will look more balanced with the rear bumper I think - that look seems to work great on an Alfa GTV.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

Apart from a set of arches, anything you do can be put back to standard easily. A subtle stance looks lovely. Less tyre too, as they're bloody ugly!

Get your finger out and start this already!!

There are some good ones of these on Speedhunters.

I'm not a fan of "stanced" either though.
