PC keeps freezing up
Discussion
What's wrong with my PC. I'm running windows 7 professional with IE as browser. Everything is running with the most recent updates. It freezes up when web surfing, mostly on PH and ebay (probably noticed that because I use them most.)
It is getting really annoying, I can look at 3-4 pages on PH and then when I click to look at next page or a different topic it freezes. The little circular spinner continues to spin at the top of the screen but nothing else happens. After a short while I get a dialogue box at the bottom of the screen saying " pistonheads is not responding---recover web page,"
When I click "fix connection problems" , a box comes on screen checking things and eventually says everything on Pc is fine, the problem is with PH"
Whilst it is frozen on PH, I can minimise screen and bring up a different website easily. So it doesn't sound like my internet connection is iffy.
Any suggestions ???

Get these, install and run them as they'll clean up the machine before looking at fixing IE.
1. CCLEANER - Select every option on the left apart from Wipe Free Space then RUN
2. MALWAREBYTES - Install, update. Run a full scan and remove everything it finds.
3. Reboot and run MALWAREBYTES again. Keep rebooting and running MALWAREBYTES until it doesn't find any problems.
4. Update your ANTI VIRUS to the latest definitions. Do a full scan. Quarantine or remove all viruses found. Again reboot and Scan agin for any more Viruses.Keep doing this until the machine is clean.
5. Reset IE back to defaults. T
6. Remove any addons not required in IE. Tools / Internet Options / Advanced / RESET.
7. Run Windows Update to get the latest updates and fixes for Windows 7. Intall, Reboot and chack again. Keep checking until it's up to date.
8. Install IE11 if you've not already got it.
See how it runs after all that.

1. it may be your av - Temporarily disable your AV and try the pistonheads site again
2. it may be a fialing disk - Open a command prompt and run a chkdsk c: and see if any errors come back. If so, frst backup your PC (of course you regularly do that...) run a chkdsk c: /f and reboot the PC
3. it may be addins to your browser. try running the browser in no add on mode (start/allprograms/accessories/system tools /ie with no add ons)

I'd also look at getting a copy of Rogue Killer. I had a slow problem a few weeks ago and it turned out to bean EAT hack that only RK could find or delete. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/roguekill...
All windows updates are up to date. Using IE 11, AVG virus scan is up to date and scanned. Ran CCleaner with no problems found, added PH to compatibility list.
I haven't run a MALWAREBYTES thingy as not sure which one to trust or download.
Whilst waiting for PH to load up next page I opened and closed four other websites from my desktop icons. Jensen owners club, Dellorto carbs, DAF foods and Preloved. All opened as normal and I flicked through different pages on each site. PH had still not reloaded, screen timed out and came up with unable to find, check connection problem. There were no connection problems, PH was at fault again it said.
So it seems it is definitely just PH and ebay. Frustrating it is

You could try adding a couple of Tracking Protection Lists to your browser, definitely worth 2 minutes of your life: http://www.iegallery.com/en-gb/trackingprotectionl...
Otherwise, how does start/Programs/System tools / internet explorer (no addons) function? Any better than normal? If it does, start disabling addons (internet options, Programs tab) until you find the culprit

I've disabled all addons and things are 100% no better. Waiting for page to reload eventually comes up with "web page unavailable" with a click box for "fix connection problems".
Clicking this shows it checking various modes and then showing-
"your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource(www.pistonheads.co.uk)is not responding

An update with a solution.
After trying everything mentioned on here and some other things, nothing fixed the problem. Strangest part was while waiting for PH to load up I could surf through other web sites no problem. So I didn't think it was a connection problem at all.
I decided to try a different router as the Belkin one I have is about 4 years old, it wasn't showing signs of fault in any checks made and as I said, it was only on PH and ebay.
Guess what------ everything is back to normal and working spot on. I don't know why the router was just holding up certain sites but it was.
Thanks for all the suggestions, but no one won the virtual prize
