nice route from M62 to Fishguard

It won't be hooning as I will have the wife in kidlets with me. But any recommendations to avoid M6 etc would be welcome. Nice A/B roads, scenic roads welcome.

I'd prefer not to be going through one town after another, so 'progress' is my main aim. I'll be setting off early sunday morning so traffic shouldn't be an issue

I suppose there are two options coast or straight down the middle. i've done the devils bridge road which was great, but to repeat that it seems to take me down the coast and I don't know what the rest of the journeyy will bring.

A49 south from Warrington is good and fast. Turn west at Hereford towards Brecon. Or turn off onto A44 at Leominster, follow A44 to Aberystwyth and then coast road. Once you get into Wales, they're all good!
