Had the air con regassed for Le Mans and it was working fine. Drove it this weekend and sods law with the current weather, wasn't working. Blue LED came on very dimly but no cold air. I knew there were some problems with the controller box so thought it would be a good chance to sort it out. I did check for pressure in the air con system and it seemed a little low, about similar to a car tyre when pushing in the valve, I'm guessing it should be a bit higher?

In the controller box the lone voltage regulator had a broken leg, although bent at a certain angle everything normally worked ok. There were also a couple of resistors replacing a couple of wires of the ribbon cable that connect the two boards together that were broken off. So, replaced the voltage regulator and reconnected the resistors and plugged the box back in. First problem was the air con light was lit up brightly whilst the cold air fan was off and the air con button had no affect. Started the engine and the speedo started flicking around with the revs. Disconnected the two resistors again which cured the speedo problem but the odd air con control behaviour still remains. And the air con still doesn't work.

Anyone had similar issues or know if those resistors should be there or not?

When you had it regassed did they leak test it properly? It may be that in the time you've been to LeMans and back the gas has all gone again....

Yes this sounds likely. Don't prod at the valves in the charge ports to "test" though, it's illegal to let the refrigerant escape and it can land you with a hefty fine! Grab a torch and have a look at the condensor through the front, leaks will show up as stone damage or oily patches on the core..

No I don't think it was leak tested. This is what I thought would be the most obvious explanation but I wanted to fix the broken voltage regulator anyway and now it isn't working properly at all frown

Surprised it wasn't leak tested as most aircon machines do this as part of the process. On the newer machines such as the one that did mine (at Kwik Fit) the old gas is removed and then the system is pressure tested and leak tested so that new gas is not wasted putting it into your leaky car.
