Hi guys.

I have a TVR Tasmin with a Ford Colgne V6 2.8 and the starter that is fitted to the car is NOT the standard one fitted to 99% of cars with that engine.

It seems that the starter used on my car was mainly fitted to Serria 4x4's

I have the part number taken from the starter - V85BB 11000 AB

I have phoned my local ford dealer and they have converted that to two later part numbers

1652370 and 1008842 these are "Ford Finish" part numbers apparently

but they cannot source me the starter any more, is it possible that someone has a NOS or used one I can purchase ASAP, (I'll happily buy two just in case so I have a spare so I don't get this trouble again!) as my starter went AWOL yesterday and I'm hoping to be able to take the car to Silverstone this weekend for the classic.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The 4x4 starter should be a 3 bolt fixing 2.8 I and XR4i are 2 bolt. Check which one you have for your self then E-Bay is the way. Got one for my 4i for £55 lucas unit.

Just a quick message to say I have sourced a starter and it is fitted and working nicely now.

Thanks to all for their help.

Car will be at the Silverstone Classic (in the TVRCC section) this Sunday if anyone is going.

Glad its sorted. You could have tried Burghfield alternators and starters, they may have rebuilt the one you had.
