DVLA - check your licence online
Discussion
In case you haven't seen the thread in Speed, Plod & the Law...

It's now possible to compare DVLA's records with the information on your driving licence.
You need the licence number, your national insurance number, and your postcode. There is an option to "Search for your record using your personal details" if you don't know the licence number.

Should enable us to pre-empt any problems with categories (particularly "motorcycle") disappearing when changing address etc. (as long as we have the licence, I suppose).
Relieved to find that DVLA agrees that I have a bike licence. If they didn't, and I didn't have the licence, I suspect that it would be impossible to prove that I passed the test in 1968.

Thanks for the headsup, my record matches my license 100% which is expected since I had to renew the photocard a few years ago - but good to know anyway.
Just realised I have a full tractor license lol I note some of these categories are given by age related rather than test passing - like trailors on certain categories.
Anyway main stuff that I need is there: car test passed Oct 89, bike Dec 96!

Vehicles you can provisionally drive
You can drive any size motorbike, with or without a sidecar
does this mean i can chuck L plates on an R1
Technically yes if you want to learn and take your direct access test on it, however the only downside is you need to be followed by an DSA qualified instructor or tester at all times.Vehicles you can provisionally drive

I'd forgotten- I can drive a road roller and a tracked vehicle : (ok -on a Provisional)
Hmmm now, what do I fancy, Sherman Tank or Traction engine?
A mate of mine has got every single test passed and group on his licence (including tanks!). Believe it or not the trickiest to sort was the road roller test - there was only one place in the country that did it. The photo is very funny as he's driving this quite antique looking steamroller with an L plate and a very appropriate HOT 411 (can't remember the number) reg plate Hmmm now, what do I fancy, Sherman Tank or Traction engine?

I have a "eyesight correction" condition on mine, which is fair enough as I wear contact lenses but how the hell do they know that? I don't think I've ever told them?
Noted by the examiner? Did you wear glasses on your test at all?sjtscott said:
