I am wanting to buy an older Rolls Royce (Shadow, Spirit, Spur) or an older Bentley (Turbo R, Continental R) in Qatar. I am moving out there in November. As I cannot import something out there (with it being over 5 years old). What is the chance of being able to pick one up?

Thanks in advance for the posts. I know I have been told that a 4x4 would be a better option on the roads but I won't listen for the moment and want to take advantage of the 11p/litre fuel costs!

You can have a look at Qatarsale to get an idea of what's available.

The one thing you are likely to encounter is cars that are just not looked after very well though, excellent condition out here means something completely different to what you would expect it to mean. There are also plenty of roads here that are not really roads and speedhumps that are like hills so you would need to be careful but I suppose it depends on where you live and where you like to hang out.

The one other major hurdle I've found out here is finding a decent mechanic, every time I've found a good honest guy who actually knows his stuff I find they have left the country when I call for my next service.

Mechanics are a rare breed out here, taking your car to a main dealer is worse than going to Kwik Fit for a service in my experience, I can't believe how shocking some of the stuff I've seen is.

I'll have a good look around when I get there. Surely some sheik must be getting rid of there old Corniche! Failing that I'm guessing a Hummer or Escalade would be a good idea.

Wrongly listed as an Arnage but might help
http://www.qatarsale.com/mycar_e.aspx?carid=80132

or an old Brooklands saloon

I've no idea who is best to buy from, sorry.

Has it been removed? I cannot see it? Did it sell?

Didn't make the auction, owner hadn't completed the paperwork and wasn't in the country so couldn't sell it.

Drop me a PM if you're interested as I know the owner and he may sell it direct if you still fancy it.
