Frequent flyer types - a quick question.

I am currently in the position of being a gnats pube hair away from my BA silver and the perks it offers (on 585 tier points since April) I will get it through work soon enough, but I want it now!

Planning a wee trip away in the near future and my question is thus:

I was going to use my miles to book the whole thing - but will this mean I miss out on tier points?

Can I book one leg with cash and the return with miles? If not, I will book her ticket with the miles and mine with cash.

I know I won't make it for my holiday, but the silver will be nice for my next work one, as it is often a long layover in T5 type deal.

Flights booked with Avios do not attract Tier points, not sure about Avios and Cash mixed.

yes you will miss out on the tier points if you book with Avios.

And yes you can book one leg with cash and one with Avios to get your tier points for one leg!

Silver is definitely worth it with BA, especially if you have long layovers in Heathrow, although the T1 lounge is better imo smile

When booking tickets etc with BA, it is only worth booking business or first class tickets as the taxes and charges will wipe out any value in economy.
