Anyone been to the Villa d Este Classic car show??
Discussion
Although the main events at the Villa d'Este are for invited guests only, there are public days at the Villa Erba (next door):

We went this year and it was the perfect trip. The quality and rarity of the cars was outstanding, weather was perfect and the whole atmosphere around the place was just buzzing - people from all over Europe and incredible cars just parked around the town.
The Saturday is invitation only as far as I know and you can do a bit of a paparazzo job through the fence but the beauty of this event is that the following day, all the cars move to Villa Erba at the other end of the town and it's about 14 Euros to get in.
We drove down, getting the ferry to Rotterdam, stayed in Stuttgart, over the Gotthard, stayed in Menaggio, back over the Stelvio (or would have done were it not closed for the Giro d'Italia).
I'd say, check the place out on the Saturday and get there early on Sunday and make for the car park next to Villa Erba if you can. Sunday is busy and we got tickets in advance via the Concorso website but there seemed to be people just paying at the gate.
I spoke to a few owners - some seemed approachable, though others didn't. Also, wait until the cars do their appearance in front of the grandstand later in the day, all do a turn with commentary by Simon Kidston.
This was by far the best static show I have ever attended. See the pics on the web to see what I mean!
