I returned home last week from after working away for 2 months. My car was pretty dirty so I gave it a quick wash, however, both front doors, side skirts and front wings are like sandpaper! The dirt is welded to the paint. I spent a good 6 hours today with a claybar and made a good improvement in the drivers side, although still not perfect. I think I need something a bit more aggressive than a claybar for the passenger side. I can scrape the dirt off with my finger nails, so it will come off. Just not very well with a clay bar. What other products can I try? I want to get the paint as smooth as possible before getting the DA and cutting compounds out and trying to freshen up the paintwork.

Could try a clay mitt? They're much easier/quicker to use than clay bars - http://www.halfords.com/motoring/cleaning-products...

That is exactly what I bought and used. Worked an absolute treat, paintwork is now like glass. I tried some intense tar remover first and it done nothing. Went with the clay mitt and it took sorted it out. Wasn't easy mind you and used a whole bottle of Autoglym Rapid detailer. Took 13 hours all in to do.

As suggested above, the Wolf's stuff is hard to beat although there are a number of equally good products out there,

Recently bought one of these myself and it is superb. Ive used clay bars in the past but this is so much easier to use and the results were perfect.
Highly recomended!
