Hi

The cable that moves the window up and down in my sister skoda fabia has snapped, I have the replacement part but need to get the inner metal door panel off.

I have removed the plastic trim panel and cant see how this metal cover comes off. I know it has the window mechanism attached to it, and its the cable I need to replace so it needs to come off, but don't know how without wrecking it.

Anyone got any ideas?

If its a black metal panel covering most of the inside of the door then it should just unbolt, if the metal is body colour then that is the door shell and doesnt come apart but there will be a way off removing the regulator through some of the gaps in the shell. As another thought on some of the VAG range of vehicles the outer door skin is unbolted to replace glass and regulators but I dont think that applies to a Fabia.

I did one on a leon yesterday which i suspect is similar. it had half a dozen 10mm bolts around it. although i couldnt get to the gubbins inside anyway after all that!

It will be held on with 6 or so large rivets around the outside of the metal. Drill them out and the metal panel will come off.
