My 2000 A4 (B5? Platform) 1.8 SE has done 103000 miles

Going from 1st to 2nd, 3rd to 2nd and occasionally 2nd to 3rd it graunches and feels like the synchro isn't working.

I checked the clutch mech, stopped the leak on the base of the reservoir, changed the fluid and bled the system.
The pedal feels better but the graunchiness is the same.

The other thing I have noticed is the gear lever feels loose (can be waggled when a gear is selected)

So the multiple choice question is:

a) Leaky clutch was dragging and the synchro took a battering = re-con box & new clutch
b) Gear linkage is worn = new linkage
c) Box is mullered = new box & clutch (as it's out)
d) Known fault they all have that I don't know about

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice/answers thumbup

ETA: A word of advice.... even though the larger Tesco stores sell tools and clutch fluid, security can get a bit bolshy when you fix your car in their car park hehe (I just tightened the union to stop the leak... I left the fluid change till I got home)
