I'm off to NZ in a couple of weeks and will be flying with China Southern. It's the cheapest by around £300 so I'm not expecting fireworks but I am a little bit perturbed by how bad their website seems to be.

Has anyone else flown with them or fathomed out how to reserve seats online? I can't seem to log in and everytime I try and enter in my booking reference it simply says that I don't have a ticket and trying to enter in my alledged ticket number brings up the cryptic message 'Ticket can but ten and thirteen!'.

Not overly impressed...

I have flown them a few times, albeit in Business class which has been fine. Can't comment on their economy class, but I know they now fly an A380, the other newer planes in their fleet are well equipped. Worst case scenario, have a few drinks and sleep through the flight!

The website is absolute rubbish, so its worth calling their office (I think they have a London one) directly to make any seat arrangements.

Thanks

Every airline on the planet is exactly the same these days.

All using the same plane models and seat-sizes (give or take a few inches).

China Southern are fine. They are Asia's largest airline.

As someone who deals with airlines and private aircraft from all over the world every day I beg to differ. Personally I place a fair amount of significance on the human element.

Flew China Southern business class to Melbourne last Xmas. Economy looked pretty much like economy on any other airline (flew on Dreamliner and 777 I think) but Guangzhou airport is a dump and apparently rather over-priced if you want drinks/food.

I'd definitely suggest trying to smuggle a few bottles of water off the plane to avoid getting stung at your stopover!
