Getting itchy feet in current role working for a world top-five University.

Career progression looks limited given archaic and hierarchical nature of the game. My present role is essentially business modelling and assistance in growth of IDEs (Innovation Driven Enterprises) using various means of science, technology and law to grow them. Outreach to VC funders, outreach to wider University and some Public relations work. I currently manage the only unit of its type in the UK, but as it's a new venture itself it will take time to grow. Time which I would like to use productively rather than being frustrated by the systems that I cannot change or circumvent.

I was wondering if there are any jobs in Energy in the innovation management or innovation mindset training sectors. Failing that I'm quite handy with email, spreadsheets and project management and delivery. Not massively keen on Marketing but it's something I'm handy at along with BD.

I'd really like to travel with work, but also be assisting people innovate with new ideas.

Any comments welcome - on how to break into the industry coming from a Public sector non-related background.

Thanks in advance! smile
