If the plastic has a waxy, slippery surface (e.g. polypropylene) then the surface has to be flame treated in order for any kind of paint to stick to it. This oxidises the surface and provides a far better bond for paint.

What colour are they at the minute? You could have a go at dying them.

alternatively there are loads of cheap 'sticker bombs' on ebay.
I would rather cut my bks off than sticker bomb anything!

I am also not setting fire to my bike or anything it would just go bad, think of the kittens etc.

Thanks for the suggestions still guys, still deciding what to do but these replies are swaying me towards wrapping it

Nope.. I want to buy panels but it's impossible, so I think the next best thing is just to wrap it I think. Will either get someone to do it, or attempt it myself depending on how it's done.

As far as I know it's done the same as an airfix kit.

Spray the plastic with slightly soapy water
Slide the sicker into place
Fight with the sticker to get it off your fingers
Rip the sticker & give up

hehe

Liam,

I have tried spraying black plastic panels myself in the past - results were bad!

Had some plastic panels sprayed professionally recently, perfect results but costs money!

I have used wrap for car parts, it can be time consuming and may need a few attempts but can get some good results. 3M may be more expensive but is more robust to apply. If you wet the panel and apply, use a hair drier to 'shrink' it on you can get good results. Has the advantage of being able to peel off if not going too well.
Can also use more interesting textures or colours, carbon fibre etc, I even used a leather type wrap for an old hot rod dashboard once. I would get some from e-bay and try a panel.
