I admit to being abit of a watch novice so i was wondering if anyone has any advise on a decent cheapish watch to get. I am so far swaying towards an Ice Watch but not sure of the colour, Open to other reasonable suggestions under the £500 mark,

err odd-ish question, their are some really good brands at the under £500 mark, Seiko, tissot, citizen to name 3 that I like their are many many many more, I personally wouldn't get an ice-watch as they are over priced rubber & plastic.

It really does depend what your after, the primary thing really with getting a watch is that you like it, the look/style is down to personal preference, so have a browse around and get the one you like smile

Yeah, what kind of watch do you want? Post up links to the sort of things you like.

For £500 you could make an error and buy something which is more about the name than the quality of the insides.

I agree with all of Hoofy and Foliage's comments.

You can find some superb watches for under £500, such as Seiko, Tissot, Citizen and Orient Star thumbup

As Hoofy said, you can also waste £500 on a rubbish quality watch. I'd put Ice Watches in this category, I'm afraid.

I was also thinking about how you could pick up a Hugo Boss quartz chrono that has the same movement as one found in a £50 Sekonda chrono. biggrin

£500 to most people is an expensive watch.

Just saying.

I agree. When I read the thread title, I thought it could be about a £5 watch, not a £500 watch.

If £500 is cheap to you, why bother asking for opinions? Just get whatever you fancy, you can always get another one if you go off it. rolleyes

I've recently just treated my self to a C60 Gmt from Christopher Ward. You can't go far wrong with these guys, great up and coming British brand, with all the trick bits from the Swiss. They have also just released there own mechanical movement.

There C60 trident would be my choice for your budget.

you can't buy a pie and a pint for a £5 !..........lots of very nice pre-owned watches within your budget......it means you will end up with a £1500 retail price watch for £500

True, but we can sell you a pre-owned clearance watch, with a year guarantee, and a bottle of Spitfire for a fiver. We don't actually sell the Spitfire but you'll have enough change to get one in Tesco down the road biggrin

Ok, the watches may not be something you'd actually want to wear but they're aimed at people who just want to know the time and the guarantees are honoured if they bother to bring them back.

Only had a couple of returns in 2 years since we've been doing them and they were a little gobsmacked to actually have them fixed - both have since provided several follow-up sales of more profitable stuff wink
