Will the car have the swirl flap issue? And I have been told about breathers needing changed to vortex style, any knowledge on these issues?

No issues with e9x swirls flaps.
The scaremongers say different, but if you asked the same question on e90post everyone says not to worry about them

Thanks for advice re swirl flaps, I test drove the car today, and it was great. First performance diesel I have driven and I was impressed. Very smooth, no noises or rattles. Once it gets going it felt quick. Interior was as new, everything worked, tyres almost new, brakes done all round. All previous MOTs and FBMWSH (according to service book). Only down side was the stone chips on front, but in the future could always look into a front re spray.

Should I go for it???

Yes. I'd do it quick too, because if it's that good someone else will snap it up from under your nose. That'll be annoying!

Any talk of a deal?

Do it - else RS possible someone in this thread may buy it while you contemplate options.

Deal done, pick the car up on Monday, pretty chuffed. Paid a little less than advertised, which i am happy with. Just have to stop looking at classifieds now.

Will put an update on the car, and the drive home once I get it.

Is it me or are cars generally more expensive lately? £9k for a 9 year old 3 Series - but looking around the price seems about on the money.

Its because the much older versions of it are not that cheap for some reason. Plus let's be frank even at 9 years old given they have been looked after they will be as new condition so still value.

I had been thinking the same recently, it seems that things like tax brackets, are playing a part in the higher prices, plus cars are being shown they can go on for a lot longer now, so what used to be classed as old, and high miles is no longer the case, at least that's what I think is happening.

Just looked at the ad, it is a nice touch, had good service from dealer. Car would have been ready to collect today, but due to work it's going to be Monday. Nothing worse than waiting on new car day.

Gives car manufactures a problem in making people change from perfectly good cars - marketing and shows like stop Gear to give you the latest thing must have seems to work.

Look at company vehicles it used to be max 3 years 60k now its 4 years 100k miles and will increase further before long.

Exactly, I have bought the 330d with a view to keeping it a good few years, and put some miles on it. But it's not a worry as you see them handle the miles no problem, along with. Still looking good if taken care of.

Also, DPF issues, should I get it removed? Has anyone carried this out recently. Or should I just not worry and wait and see if something goes wrong in the future.

Unless it goes wrong I would leave it.
For the gains you get compared to the cost, and then needing a friendly MOT tester is it really worth it?
The cars Ive owned for the last 10 years or so have all had no cats (were meant to have them), and I had a friendly tester, but now I can't be bothered to mess about with it all so have left it on.

Only if you want to fail the MOT

You have only just bought the car didn't you check idrive to see how long it is expecting the DPF service part to last?
Initially these are 150k service items.

How this isn't the sign of cutting corners on maintaining already....
