about to buy a used focus
had its latest MOT this month and passed with no advisories.
taxed until September
also has FSH

I've had one good look and going back for another look and drive before buying.

HPI through AA came back spotless and everything matches up.

couple of small dings and scratches mainly around the drivers handle where keys have brushed against the body, nothing major.

rubber seal in the bottom section of boot hatch has a tear in.

the purpose of this thread is just to get some opinions on the amount of rust underneath, I've only ever bought new cars so used to seeing spotless metal everywhere.

Pretty common for a Ford, to be honest. I just got a few cans of Comma underseal spray and a wire brush and a mates ramp. Stunk his workshop out even with the roller shutter open, job done for a few years.

As above really, it's a Ford & they seem to rust like that these days frown On a side note my 1996 Mondeo looks like that & hasn't fallen apart.....yet!

That looks about 8-9 years old. How old is it?

A bit of spray on wax should keep it at bay.

06 plate so 8 years (well guessed pistom) 70k miles

always fancied a focus but only liked the MK2 so I have to buy used anyway.

I just don't want any nasty bills from rust.

providing everything is good on the test I'll grab it this week.

Normal for the subframes to look like that it won't be structural so nothing to worry about
As others have mentioned a couple of cans of underseal & you can have it looking better with a few hours work

Similar rust pattern to my '05, except yours seems a bit more advanced.
