I'd say that was 100% the case here

TBH looking at the pics again I'd be more worried the face of the windows are behind the rear face of the bricks..
Looking at the photo, it looks like the window frame is in front of the rear of the brick, so shouldn't be a problem. The cill is though!

In the photo you can only see the opening light side.

Given the opening frame is circa 50mm thick...and you can see the margin on the lintol over id say the positioning of the frame could be an issue as well - maybe moreso in an argument with the intaller

Thanks for all the replies chaps. Very helpful.

Here are some more pics which should answer some of the questions raised.

Old window:

New from other angles

Downstairs, the new cills look different

How long have you had the new windows in Foxy? I would say my point about poor installation still stands.

The position in the reveal looks fine. Have they used different size sills (projection) on ground and first floor?

The upstairs were installed last week. Downstairs have been in a few months.

I don't think so. I think the upstairs windows are set further back for some reason.

I'm pretty sure they haven't used cappit.
Would more pics help?

As usual some st advice from people with no idea.

As mentioned by a couple of posters the windows are positioned perfectly fine.
Very likely butted up to existing plaster and should have been specced a deeper cill giving it an additional 30mm overhang.
Easy option would'av been to set the windows forward and use 45 trim on the inside.
Maybe the OP asked for no trim to be used.
Sub standard on the company's behalf.

Thanks spudler.

I think the frames are positioned correctly in the aperture but as you say a deeper cill should've been used.

My question is, will the lack of drip gap cause problems, or is it wrong?

Not cause a problem as such but will leave an unsightly discoloured mess below the window of a good couple of ft in depth.
Fairly common where houses have been retrospectively rendered without taking this problem into account. Even see it on new builds with flush facias and little overhang on verges.
There's a saying in construction, "if it looks right, it is right"...and that sure don't look right!

something not right, stick you camera out of upstairs window and take few pics,it would be impossible to fit the cills they have used downstairs so close to the brickwork without some butchery as the profile of the cill would not allow it
