Evening all,

I've got a day free on Saturday and planning on taking a friend and their two year old out for the day, however I'm st at knowing what is suitable for kids.

Ideally I'm looking for somewhere in Dorset, but closer to Poole the better.

So far I'm thinking

Monkey world - not been here for years, is it worth it? Friends daughter loves monkeys so I think this is looking good.

Farmer Palmers - again not been for years, she likes animals so could be good?

Moors Valley - I just seem to remember it was a play area and somewhere to wall, unless this has changed?

Also been told about Upton Park, I was told there has been some play things added?

Possiblely Brownsea Island, but friend has a few health problems so unsure if it's wise to be stuck on an island.

Does anyone know of any events going on? Understand that Christchurch has some kind of carnival going on, is there anything else?

Cost wise, if adults can get in for under £15 each that would be brilliant.

Thanks smile.

I'd say Monkey World is a good shout. They have some nice kids play areas too

Flames Palmers nice if you think the little one will want to hold and feed the animals etc?

Picnic is doable at both or local pubs etc

Monkey World is good, but is spread over a large site. Will definitely need a pushchair. The large play areas are for older children.

Farmer Palmers is great for smaller children. There are lots of different activities during the day which the children love, from feeding the sheep to seeing how they milk cows. Much smaller site than Monkey World. My daughter had her birthday party there last year.

There is also Honeybrook Farm, but we've not been there for a few years.

Corfe Castle is always a favourite with our family. Always lots to do with children. If the budget stretches you can go on the Swanage railway that has a station at Corfe Castle. But you need to leave early to avoid the traffic and get a parking space. If any of you are National Trust Members it will save money and get you free parking.

Wareham riverboat hire - £15 for an hour! Take a little picnic, let the little one have a go 'driving' the boat etc.

Massive brownie points.

i've got a 2 year old and live in Dorset, so have done pretty much everything on your list!

Monkey world is a great place to visit, although the play areas are for over fives and a two year old will get bored of monkeys after looking at it for about three seconds; we were in and out in about an hour, having paid about £30 for the experience!

Moors Valley is always a good shout with our little one - we often park the car at Potterne Park, as it doesn't cost £5 an hour and it's a nice 25 minute stroll in to Moors Valley. There's plenty to do, walk the play trail for various suitable kids play bits, have a go on the little train etc.

We've done the Wareham river a few times too - good fun for the adults, a two year old is a bit on the young side to appreciate the driving and stuff though!

Don't forget the New Forest, wander round Burley, look at Ferraris in Lyndhurst, spend the £30 entrance fee on a nice lunch sat outside the Rhinefield House Hotel instead - massive garden for the little one to run riot, food is pretty good and reasonably priced and you look like you enjoy the finer things in life to impress the little one's Mum! wink

Honeybrook Farm. Bring a pic-nic, you won't be disappointed!
