Hi everyone,

I interviewed for a position yesterday and good news I was offered the position. The job is in Watford which means a relocation for me (from Spain)

I will go to the job walking or bicycle (I haven't car). I will live with my girlfriend and we would like a nice place where we can go to pubs or shopping at evening/night.

I'm searching a rent no more than £1,000 pcm

Best regards,
Jose Luis

Clarendon Rd is right beside Watford Junction train station (many, many trains go through there) - so you have options further afield than just walking/biking distance of the office. I'd suggest St Albans, only 15 mins on train to Watford Junction, and it's a nice place, and has everything you're looking for.

Like most places, Watford has it's good and bad parts - Cassiobury and Croxley are both nice areas to live that I'm familiar with, but aside from good pubs, there's not much else in walking distance. I'm sure Watford residents will be along shortly to offer better advice than I can on options there.

The other option could be Rickmansworth, which is only 5 miles from your office, don't know it that well, but I think it's 'nicer' than Watford itself. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/find.h...

Good luck!

OK: Bushey, Croxley, Leavesden, Cassiobury, Abbots Langley
Avoid: South Oxhey, east Garston.

I'd add Nascot Wood to the 'good list' and close enough to the station (same area)

The St Albans line isn't the most reliable and it is not that frequent a service, I'm not sure I'd fancy commuting on it.
However being so close to the station you have a great pick of places and towns, what is your situation? Family, kids, are you looking for town living or a villagey place, do you want to see the nightlife of Watford(!) etc

Hi,

We haven't kids. Our idea is town living and nightlife on weekends.

Lots of flats of Langley road which is only 5 mnutes walk from the town and Watford Junction.
Your also then only 10-15 minutes from villages such as Sarrat, Chipperfield.

ive just sold a flat in nascot wood. its probably the best part of watford to live in if you are based on clarendon road and still want to be close to town.

having said that, i lived in watford for 5 years and i wouldnt go back to live in the town if i was working there. i'd head out to St Albans. Bushey is closer and also very nice!

I lived right at the top of Langley Rd, next to the Traffic Lights with the Hemel Hemstead Rd. Nice place to live.

Nice. I work around the corner from Clarendon Rd (Work on Station Rd).

I currently live just off of Rickmansworth road. Moved there from North London almost 3 years ago. I like it a lot. Really nice and quiet.

Areas to consider -
  • As mentioned Nascot Wood. Looked at a couple places around there a while back. Really nice. Although I think you'd need to stretch the budget a "little further".
  • Rickmansworth Rd / Roads leading onto it - As mentioned I currently live off of this road. Really nice and quite.
I say look within areas with a post code of WD18 and WD17. Dont look down St Albans road. Dont like remind me too much of the area that I left lol... Thats just me.

For that reason alone you'll struggle to get a spot in that residential area for 1,000/month. However, I one does pop up make sure you snap it up fast!

How are you going to work? Walking? Bike? Train?

I walk. Only takes me 20 mins (a little less if I go through cassiobury park)
