I have just joined this forum and am looking for any help, advice or guidance with a renovation that I am working, slowly. on. The car is an H reg TVR S that I have had for a year. I have had the engine running but as the car was sitting in a field for at least a year before it came to me it is in need of serious repair. I set off 9 months ago with great gusto and have removed the bonnet, brake server, disconnected many wires and cables and believe I am getting close to the point where I can lift the body off. This will enable me to take the chassis somewhere to be replaced or repaired.

I do have the Steve Heath book on the TVR S and have looked at some stuff on the internet but it still leaves me with a lot of gaps in my understanding of what I need to take off/disconnect. For example what do I need to do with the fuel tank, does it stay with the chassis or the body where is it best to disconnect it etc.

Years ago I worked on an MGB and had a Haines Manual that took me through the process step by step. If anyone can point me in the direction of where I would find something like that for the TVR or give me a fools guide to body removal that would be very much appreciated.

I look forward to any and all advice.

Full step-by-step guide to lifting the body slightly for chassis repair - might be helpful.

You'll need to disconnect more (brakes / clutch / electrics) if you're taking the body right off.

In answer to your specific question, the fuel tank stays with the chassis. What you need to do is disconnect the gauge sender unit, and then the filler neck (as explained in the link above) and then (important bit this) dig out ALL the sealer around the filler neck in the boot floor - if you don't, the body just won't lift.

Hi and welcome to the S series forum. Good luck with the resto, I too came do to an S, after a rolling resto on an MGB, which was a lot more straight forward, cos all the bits are in the haynes manual and off the same make and model of car, unlike the TVR !!
The wise folk on this forum have seen all the combinations and solutions and are very willing to offer advice.
I would have taken a lot longer and spent more cash to get it done, without all the help on here.
You have found the TVR Oracle !!
Keep updating with progress, photos if possible , as this helps others and keeps the encouragement for you in the dark moments, when you feel like kicking it. !
