Here we are just arrived in southern France for 3 week sojourn . and b+++++s a/c packed up on car

Full VW diagnostic now done €49

Compressor dead

Compressor €450

Gas

3 hrs

Total €1100

I think we will wait till we get home .



We were in queue behind Dutch couple in a new Passat with dead a/c and guess what , Compressor !!

There's nothing cheap in France apart from wine , I was quoted 400 odd euros for an alternator for a raggy old cabstar tipper down there !

3 times eh, I'd start carrying a spare alternator.

No idea why that happens , I live in hope one of you geeks will tell me , it doesn't happen every time and it's always from the same I pad . Not that I'm really interested though , to busy trying to make some money for my french holiday !

Happy ending , VW picked up the tab via extended warrantee , new compressor , new air dryer , purge of system to clear metal filings from failed shaft , back to cool driving
Well worth forking out for warrantee , paid for this failure , and still has balance to run

And diesel! £52 for 1/2 a tank in the UK, 54 Euros for 3/4 of a tank in France. biggrin
