Does anyone have a drawing to get a Tank made up, the POR50 treatment I tried has failed miserably and the car is undrivable again so want to get some quotes for a new tank (or know of any available?)

A useful read... and a bit more searching will probably find more wink

I have a spare tank here, you're welcome to come and take all the measurements and photo's you like.

Even at "mates rates" it was going to cost big bucks and that was just a budget price to make the main rectangular box!

What are the measurements? As I can't rely on my fuel gauge I'm interested in working out what the capacity actually is.

Hi Phillpot,

If no one already has a drawing for one then yes I'd like to borrow the tank to measure up, I work for a large engineering company who regularly have stainless tanks made so was going to try our suppliers first. The only trouble is I'm away on holiday for 2 weeks from Monday then working in oz for 11 weeks so won't be able to do anything until I get back

Are tanks allowed to be in aluminium?
If so try cater7man on eBay.

Hi.
I will be making an aluminium tank for a customer, to suit the s3 model. It should be completed within a month.
This will be a straight swap for the standard tank, and will have the same fittings as per the original tank, including the locking ring type sender unit mount etc.
I would happily compare my tanks to any others on the market.
Thanks.
Andy.

Nothing wrong with aluminium, you do need to make sure it's pressuse tested, not sure if you need any type approval due to it holding petrol, all petrol tanks should be type approved ( I think).
